The BioSpec3 project proposes the implementation of an integrated software solution capable of managing all the functions of a next-generation biobank embedded in a regional network of biological resource centers. It is a cloud-based, open source solution, interoperable with other IT solutions, which integrates sample information with environmental information offering advanced tools for aggregation and analysis of complex data, both at the level of an individual patient and of a larger case history distributed over several collection centers, to support the scientific community and clinical research. The next step, the subject of this BioSpec3 proposal, is to develop the tools necessary to transform the biobank into an active clinical knowledge tool for the benefit of the individual patient and place it at the center of a collaborative scientific network that integrates new technologies and new data sources.
